Trump Celebrates Climate Panel's Shift: 'WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!'

May 17 2026

WASHINGTON — President Trump basked in glory Saturday night as a major international climate panel dialed back its doomsday predictions, claiming they were no longer the most credible outcomes. The United Nations-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recently revised its modeling framework, which had previously forecast a staggering 4–5°C rise in temperatures by 2100, a scenario that fueled fears of catastrophic consequences from greenhouse gas emissions.

“GOOD RIDDANCE! After 15 years of Dumocrats promising that ‘Climate Change’ is going to destroy the Planet, the United Nations TOP Climate Committee just admitted that its own projections (RCP8.5) were WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!” Trump blasted on Truth Social, relishing the moment.

This framework had been the backbone of alarming forecasts predicting dramatic sea level rises, global crop failures, and rapid glacier melt, sending hardcore climate activists into a frenzy over potential extinction events. But scientists have now pointed to data suggesting that the shift towards renewable energy makes such dire scenarios increasingly unlikely.

Trump, a staunch advocate of “drill baby, drill” energy policies, has long expressed skepticism about the scientific consensus on manmade climate change. Just last year, he dismissed climate change as a “con job” during his speech at the United Nations.

“For far too long Climate Activism has been used by Dumocrats to scare Americans, push horrible Energy Policies, and fund BILLIONS into their bogus research programs,” he continued on Truth Social. “Unlike the Dumocrats, who use Climate Alarmism nonsense to push their GREEN NEW SCAM, my Administration will always be based on TRUTH, SCIENCE, and FACT!”

In a significant pivot, scientists have abandoned their high-end doomsday scenarios in favor of seven alternative models. They argued in the Geoscientific Model Development journal that a wider array of models should be employed to evaluate climate change impacts. “For the 21st century, this range will be smaller than assessed before,” they noted, asserting that the most extreme forecasts have become implausible due to trends in renewable energy costs and recent emission patterns.

Trump has aggressively rolled back numerous climate policies from the Biden and Obama administrations. In February, for instance, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the dismantling of an Obama-era anti-greenhouse gas initiative.

Notably, key figures in the anti-climate change movement have softened their rhetoric. Tech mogul Bill Gates recently acknowledged that global warming won’t lead to humanity’s “demise.” Critics have long pointed to exaggerated predictions, such as the claim that Glacier National Park would be devoid of glaciers by 2020. Officials had to remove signs warning of this impending doom when the glaciers remained intact.

On the flip side, scientists maintain that while some of the most alarming predictions have not materialized, there is still substantial evidence of global warming and ice cap melting—albeit at a slower pace than once feared. The debate rages on as both sides grapple with the implications of these shifting narratives.
