Trump Claims Iran Has Conceded on Enriched Uranium Removal
In a recent phone interview, President Trump declared that Iran has "agreed to everything," indicating a willingness to cooperate with the U.S. on the removal of enriched uranium.
He emphasized that this operation would not require U.S. ground troops. However, when pressed about who would be responsible for retrieving the uranium, he simply stated, "our people."
"No. No troops," Trump asserted. "We'll go down and get it with them, and then we'll take it. We'll be getting it together because by that time, we'll have an agreement and there's no need for fighting when there's an agreement. Nice right? That's better. We would have done it the other way if we had to."
According to Trump, the enriched material would subsequently be transported to the United States.
"Our people, together with the Iranians, are going to work together to go get it. And then we'll take it to the United States," he reiterated.
However, shortly after Trump's remarks, an Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson issued a statement asserting, "Enriched uranium is as sacred to us as Iranian soil and will not be transferred anywhere under any circumstances," adding that "transferring uranium to the United States has not been an option."
Additionally, Trump mentioned that Tehran has agreed to cease its support for proxy terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas.
When questioned about the timeline for announcing a deal, Trump indicated that meetings between the two sides are scheduled for this weekend and confirmed that the U.S. would maintain its blockade "until we get it done."
Despite reports suggesting that the Trump administration was contemplating the release of $20 billion in frozen Iranian assets in exchange for its nuclear stockpile, Trump refuted this claim: "No, we are not paying 10 cents."
