Trump Gushes Over Dinner at Versailles: 'The Real Deal'
President Donald Trump confirmed he extended his European visit after receiving a dinner invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to the Palace of Versailles.
While attending the G7 summit in France, Trump expressed his excitement about dining at the extravagant 17th-century palace located on the outskirts of Paris.
The former New York real estate mogul, who prioritizes the “beautification” of the White House for his second term, showed palpable enthusiasm for the event.
“I’m a fan of beautiful places,” Trump stated. “And I was leaving in the afternoon and then the French president, who happens to be a very nice man, invited me to dinner at Versailles. And Versailles is not a gold leaf. Versailles is the real deal. And I said, I’d like to do it.”
Trump has long been vocal about his love for gold, previously revealing that he modeled one of his Mar-a-Lago ballrooms after the lavish French palace.
As president, he transformed the White House, typically known for its understated elegance, to reflect his extravagant taste.
This transformation is evident in the Oval Office, where Trump added gold trim to crown moldings, gold embellishments on walls, gold fixtures on the fireplace mantle, gold signage outside the entrance, and gold coasters emblazoned with his name.

“There’s nothing like gold and there’s nothing like solid gold, but this beautiful office needed it,” Trump remarked previously.
His ambitions extend beyond mere decor; he has attempted to overhaul iconic areas of the White House, including demolishing the historic East Wing, traditionally housing the first lady’s offices, to construct an ornate $400 million ballroom and replacing the Rose Garden’s grass with white stone.
