Trump Jr.'s Old Iran Tweet Blows Up Amid Escalating Tensions

May 11 2026

A colossal billboard in Tehran takes aim at Donald Trump, mocking him over the volatile Strait of Hormuz. The stakes are high, and tensions are palpable.

In a blast from the past, an April 2024 tweet from Donald Trump Jr. has resurfaced, now echoing with irony as the US-Iran ceasefire teeters on the brink. “Remember when they said Trump would get us into a full-blown war with Iran? Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump, his strength and his resolve,” he proclaimed.

But those words ring hollow today. With both nations locked in a standoff, their attempts to negotiate a deal have been met with outright rejection from each side.

Can’t see the cringe-worthy tweet? You’re not alone—it's making waves across social media.

President Trump has slammed Iran’s latest demands, which include “war reparations by the US, full Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, an end to sanctions, and the release of seized Iranian assets.”

Taking to his platform, Trump declared Iran’s proposal “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!”

The ongoing conflict has sent global prices skyrocketing as both the US and Iran blockade shipping through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

“We’re giving diplomacy every chance we possibly can before going back to hostilities,” stated Mike Waltz, the US ambassador to the United Nations, in a recent interview.

Meanwhile, Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has remained silent since the war erupted but reportedly issued “new and decisive directives for the continuation of operations and the powerful confrontation with the enemies” during a meeting with military commanders.

Trump has repeatedly threatened that full-scale bombing will resume if Iran doesn’t agree to reopen the strait and roll back its nuclear ambitions.

Since the onset of hostilities, Iran has effectively blocked this strategic waterway, crucial for global oil, natural gas, and fertilizer transport—previously accounting for about 20% of global oil shipments.

In retaliation, the US military has enforced a blockade on Iranian ports since April 13, claiming to have turned back 61 commercial vessels and disabled four.

On Friday, US forces targeted two Iranian oil tankers attempting to breach the blockade.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard navy has warned that any attack on its oil tankers or commercial vessels will trigger a “heavy assault” on US bases in the region and enemy ships.
