Trump Rages Over Canadian Smoke, Threatens Tariffs Amid Air Quality Crisis
President Donald Trump unleashed fury over the toxic air quality in the U.S., blaming Canada for the smoke from wildfires. He declared, “The cost is incalculable!” on Truth Social, accusing Canada of “Willful Negligence” and claiming it’s a recurring issue that costs the U.S. billions.
Trump's threats are not empty; he intends to add the pollution costs to the tariffs Canada currently pays. Tariffs, which hit businesses and consumers hard, have been a staple in Trump's arsenal during international disputes.
In his post, he announced plans to contact Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to demand action. Trump stated, “We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their Forests, and Brush therein.”
He condemned the “filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air” invading the U.S., labeling it “dangerous” and “totally unacceptable!” The president's aggressive stance highlights his readiness to escalate tensions over environmental issues impacting American health.
