Trump's Administration Goes Full Cringe with Gen-Z Slang, Even MAGA Can't Handle It
The Trump administration's attempt to connect with young people through Gen-Z slang has been labeled "cringe and repulsive." Even MAGA supporters are calling out the "frankly embarrassing" posts.
The U.S. Department of the Interior recently announced on its official X account that it is "auramaxxing Washington, D.C. ahead of America’s 250th birthday." This term, popular among Gen-Z, aims to describe an attractive and mysterious presence.
However, the department's use of "auramaxxing" backfired spectacularly as X users mocked the post. One user slammed the administration, stating, "The fact that they’re actually saying 'auramaxxing' makes it so tacky, cringe, and repulsive already." Another added, "Oh FFS. You are neither serious nor intelligent people."
Critics pointed out the absurdity of the federal government using teen slang to communicate its achievements. One user questioned, "Do you need to use such immature language to speak to your dwindling base?"
Even Trump supporters expressed their disdain for the term. One wrote, "Love the restoration. You can take a blowtorch to the word 'auramaxxing,' though." Another supporter urged, "Look, I appreciate what y'all are doing, but please do not write 'auramaxxing.' Just. Don't."

This cringe-fest continued just a day later when the White House faced backlash for another Gen-Z term. They shared an image of Trump in the Oval Office comparing the length of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to tall U.S. buildings, captioning it with "Mogged."
"Mogged" is slang used to assert dominance over someone, but it failed to impress X users. One user declared, "This is the lamest s--- I've ever seen." Another chimed in, "'Mogged' holy s--- that’s embarrassing."
Comments continued to pour in, with one user suggesting, "Fire this intern bro." Former MAGA members also criticized the post, lamenting a shift from clever memes to awkward attempts at social media engagement.
One former supporter expressed frustration: "You went from having everyone in the know, memeing tf out of everyone for you, to you all backtracking on promises." Another added, "Whoever is telling the White House to post this stupid cringe s--- needs to be fired."
It’s clear that the administration's attempts at relatability have backfired spectacularly. "You guys are a f------ joke," one user concluded.
