Trump's AI Rebranding Rejected: Fox News Defies Orders
President Donald Trump has launched a full-scale assault on the term "artificial intelligence," demanding that it be replaced with his preferred label, “super intelligence.”
However, Fox News and several other right-wing platforms are flatly ignoring his directive.
Fox, Newsmax, and Breitbart, among others that usually align with Trump’s messaging, have refused to comply with his demand to alter their terminology, according to a report released by Media Matters for America.
This revelation came just one day after Trump declared he would be “BANNING” the term “artificial intelligence,” labeling it a “very bad and inaccurate name.”
The implications of such a “ban” remain murky, particularly regarding First Amendment rights for those who continue to use the established term instead of his rebranded “super intelligence.”
Fox’s website still features links to its “Understanding Artificial Intelligence” section, maintaining its use of the term AI without hesitation.

In fact, mere minutes after the Media Matters report went live, Fox News host Harris Faulkner referred to the controversial term while discussing Stanford University’s AI-generated image of a marching band.
Other Fox personalities, including Bret Baier—who recently played golf with Trump—continue to air segments focused on “AI,” as does Laura Ingraham, according to the report.
Jesse Watters has adopted “super intelligence” in his discussions, alongside Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law and former chair of the Republican National Committee.
Trump has taken drastic measures to promote “SI” since September, declaring on his Truth Social platform that anyone using AI instead of his chosen term would be considered “THE ENEMY.”
He has also claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping appears to favor “SI” over AI, stating that “almost everyone else” does too.
Last month, he signed an executive order aimed at solidifying this rebranding effort, despite “super intelligence” already being associated with a theoretical form of intelligence that exceeds human capabilities.
The president's insistence on this terminology shift raises questions about the future of discourse surrounding artificial intelligence.
