Trump's Fireworks Spectacle: Who's Footing the Bill for the Explosive Showdown?

Jul 04 2026

Donald Trump has vowed to deliver the “LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY” for the Fourth of July, yet the financial backers remain a mystery.

Independence Day fireworks are a staple, but past displays funded by the White House have clear payment records. Currently, there are no public disclosures regarding payments to fireworks supplier Pyrotecnico, according to NOTUS.

This extravagant display follows a UFC match hosted on the White House Lawn, coinciding with Trump’s birthday weekend and the 250th anniversary celebrations.

James Woods, a leading fireworks technician from Pyro Sales, stated, “You’re talking a many multimillion-dollar production, without a doubt.”

Woods noted that individual fireworks could cost up to $1,000. Even at a low-end price of $50 each, the anticipated 850,000 pyrotechnics would push costs into the millions.

In addition to the undisclosed deal with Pyrotecnico, the White House has publicly acknowledged a $1.5 million payment to Garden State Fireworks, the company responsible for previous Fourth of July shows. This amount is significantly higher than past years when Garden State managed displays for around $300,000.

The White House, Garden State Fireworks, and Pyrotechnico have been approached for comments regarding this year’s show.

It remains uncertain which companies will participate in this year’s event, especially since it is set to occur across 10 locations. There is also ambiguity about whether the $1.5 million payment pertains to this fireworks display or other pyrotechnic uses during the festivities.

Previous reports indicated that total celebration costs, including fireworks, are partially funded by $90 million drawn from the National Parks Service. This money is reportedly earmarked for repairing and restoring national parks, including the National Mall in D.C.

A standard White House Fourth of July show lasts approximately 17 minutes. However, this year aims to shatter the world record for shells used in a fireworks display, currently held by a church in the Philippines with 810,904 fireworks.

The show is scheduled to start later than usual at 10:30 p.m., instead of the typical 9:00 p.m., allowing time for a “spectacular TRUMP RALLY,” according to U.S. News.

Funding for the fireworks isn’t the only concern. The America250 celebration on the National Mall has been organized by Event Strategies Inc., an events company founded by former Trump aides.

Estimates suggest that $68 million of taxpayer money is allocated for America250 festivities, as reported by the New York Times. However, tracking how much taxpayer money directly funds Event Strategies Inc. is challenging due to the funds being funneled into an “opaque nonprofit.”
