President Donald Trump unleashed a profanity-laden tirade against former President Barack Obama, claiming the Iranians mocked him as a "stupid son of a bitch" during a press briefing. This outburst came as Trump scrambled to promote his yet-to-be-finalized agreement with Tehran.
During the G7 summit in France, Trump raged about Obama’s 2015 Iran deal, which he withdrew from during his first term. The draft U.S.-Iran deal is set to be officially signed Friday in Switzerland, but details remain scarce.
Trump has repeatedly attempted to draw comparisons between his agreement and the Obama-era deal, despite the lack of public information regarding his memorandum of understanding. CNN and Bloomberg News have obtained a copy of the deal’s text.
Trump's familiar attack on Obama included accusations of giving Iran “$1.7 billion in cash,” referencing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action designed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Under Obama, Iran received significant sanctions relief worth billions in exchange for limits on uranium enrichment.
In stark contrast, Trump’s proposed deal reportedly includes a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran, though the source of this funding remains disputed by the Trump administration.
Regardless of the specifics, Trump’s expletive-laden comments highlighted his disdain for Obama’s approach. “And you know what the Iranians did? They laughed at Obama and they said he’s a stupid son of a bitch,” he stated, lacking any evidence to support his claim.

Earlier in the briefing, Trump characterized the memorandum of understanding as a “very strong deal,” while issuing threats of dire consequences if he disapproves of the final text. “No, it’s not final. It’s a memorandum of understanding, and if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at ’em, dropping bombs on their head,” he warned.
Trump further denied any U.S. involvement in the $300 billion reconstruction fund, asserting, “We’re not investing, we’re not putting up 10 cents.”
