Trump Unleashes Fury on CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell: A New Low in Attacks on Women Reporters
Donald Trump is at it again, this time unleashing a tirade against CBS News senior correspondent Norah O’Donnell for daring to question him about the alleged manifesto of a man accused of a shocking attack during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“She’s terrible,” Trump spat, showcasing his ongoing vendetta against women in journalism.
The confrontation erupted during a tense 60 Minutes interview, just a day after Cole Thomas Allen, 31, allegedly stormed past security at a Hilton hotel in Washington, D.C., and fired a shotgun outside the ballroom where Trump and other high-profile figures were gathered for the black-tie event on April 25.
O’Donnell had the audacity to ask Trump about a manifesto that Allen reportedly penned, which included threats aimed at Trump administration officials. The alleged shooter’s writings have been described by various outlets as deeply disturbing.
In a moment that left jaws on the floor, O’Donnell quoted from the manifesto during her interview, which contained shocking allegations of sexual misconduct against an unnamed individual.

“Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody,” Trump shot back, his anger palpable.
When pressed further by O’Donnell about whether Allen was implicating him in sex crimes, Trump retorted, “I’m not a pedophile. You read that crap from some sick person?”
“You should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things,” he continued, branding her a “disgrace.”
Meanwhile, Allen faces serious charges, including attempted assassination of the president, and has yet to enter a plea.
Trump’s vitriol didn’t stop there; he continued to berate O’Donnell over a week later during an interview with the conservative Salem News Channel.

“I can’t believe Norah O’Donnell did that,” host Hugh Hewitt remarked. “Did you think about walking off?”
Trump replied, “No, because then you make it a bigger story, actually.”
He went on to belittle O’Donnell’s credentials: “She's a regular person that gets paid a lot of money. She's no different. I could get any woman off the street, practically, and they would do just as good of job as her. There's nothing special.”
For context, O'Donnell is no slouch; she’s a multiple Emmy Award-winning journalist with nearly three decades of experience covering national elections and interviewing every living president.
After the interview aired, O’Donnell stood her ground, defending her questions as “certainly newsworthy.”

“These are important questions about what happened and why it happened,” she asserted on CBS Mornings.
The Independent has reached out to both the White House and CBS News for comments regarding Trump’s latest tirade against O’Donnell.
This isn’t the first time Trump has targeted women reporters who challenge him; he’s labeled them “stupid,” “incapable,” and even called one “piggy” for probing into government files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Just last month, he took aim at Fox News host Jessica Tarlov after she discussed his plummeting poll numbers.
