Trump Unleashes Fury on 'Disloyal Disaster' Cassidy, Backs Letlow in Louisiana Showdown

Donald Trump didn’t hold back on Saturday, unleashing a scathing attack on Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) just hours before the Louisiana Senate primary. The former president made it crystal clear where his loyalties lie, throwing his weight behind Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.) as she faces off against Cassidy.

“Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana is a disloyal disaster,” Trump raged on Truth Social. “His entire past campaign for the Senate was about ‘TRUMP,’ how he’s with me all the way, and then, after winning, he turned around and voted to IMPEACH me for something that has now proven to be total ‘bullshit!’”

Let’s not forget, Cassidy was one of the few Republican senators who dared to vote for Trump’s conviction during the 2021 impeachment trial. Since then, Trump has been relentless, branding Cassidy as a traitor to the party and a liability for Louisiana.

“Bill Cassidy is a sleazebag, a terrible guy, who is BAD FOR LOUISIANA,” Trump continued in his Saturday tirade. “Now he’s going to get CLOBBERED, hopefully, in today’s BIG election, by two great people!!!”

As the primary unfolded, Cassidy found himself in a heated battle against Letlow and former Rep. John Fleming (R-La.), with polls indicating Fleming might be leading the pack. If no candidate secures 50% of the votes, the top two will face off in a runoff.

Trump’s backing of Letlow has been unwavering since he urged her to enter the race back in January. His enthusiasm was palpable in his latest post: “VOTE TODAY FOR JULIA L.,” he declared. “She Is a winner who will NEVER let you down.”
