Trump Unleashes Fury: Retaliation Strikes Iran After Two American Service Members Killed
Two American service members are dead, and President Trump is furious, defending the war with Iran as the US launches retaliatory strikes on Tehran. He claims the troops made the ultimate sacrifice to prevent the regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon, warning that failure to act could lead to wider conflict in the region.
In a call, Trump labeled the deaths “a shame” but insisted the mission remains critical. He stated, “They did it because they don’t want to see Iran have a nuclear weapon… And it just shows you how bad [the Iranians] are.”

The attack on Muwawffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan resulted in two service members killed, one missing, and at least four injured. The US military responded with airstrikes against Tehran shortly after the incident.
When asked if he would contact the families of the fallen service members, Trump replied without hesitation, “Of course I will. I always do. Yeah.”

At 6 p.m. on Saturday, the US launched a new wave of airstrikes aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, according to US Central Command.
CENTCOM stated that these attacks were intended to swiftly punish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for their actions.
Earlier, Trump dismissed Iran’s announcement of exiting the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, stating he “couldn’t care less” and emphasized that the troops died “in service to their country.”
The Pentagon deployed additional warplanes toward the Gulf region following the attack. F-16s are being sent from Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany, while stealth F-35s are en route from a US Air Base in Britain. Additional refueling planes had already been dispatched to the region in recent days.
Trump defended his actions as several Democratic members of Congress blamed him for the deaths of the troops. He challenged critics by asking, “Have you ever asked how many people died in Vietnam? Have you ever asked how many people died in Afghanistan in one day? In one day — run by Sleepy Joe Biden.”

He continued, “This is two wars we’re talking about: Venezuela and this. And it’s a shame, but in this case, they died because they don’t want to see Iran have a nuclear weapon and they don’t want to see the Middle East blown up.”
As Republicans called for prayers for the fallen, many Democrats seized on the tragedy to advocate for a US withdrawal from the Middle East, arguing that the fatalities could have been avoided. Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-Ill.) stated, “This is the cost of President Trump’s needless war.”

Rep. Herb Conaway (D-N.J.) added, “This country owes a debt that can never be repaid, but we can prevent more tragic loss of life.”
Calls for Trump to end the war intensified, with demands for Republicans in Congress to take action as well. “I demand that Trump end this war that he started and Republicans in Congress do the same. Enough is enough,” one representative declared.

Trump has consistently maintained that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is a core US national security interest. He warns that a nuclear-armed Tehran would destabilize the Middle East and threaten American allies.
The service members killed on Friday mark the first US fatalities since Trump declared the cease-fire with Iran “over” last week after Tehran targeted three ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran was expected to reopen the strait as part of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding that solidified the cease-fire.
