Josh Hokit unleashed a jaw-dropping insult, labeling Michelle Obama "a man" after his UFC victory over Derrick Lewis at the Freedom 250.
The fight was part of a star-studded card designed to entertain Donald Trump on his 80th birthday while celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States. Hokit dispatched Lewis with a knockout in the second round, leaving fans buzzing.
Post-fight, Hokit presented a chain to Trump, shaking hands with the president as he congratulated him. Earlier, Trump had raised eyebrows by grabbing Dana White during a lengthy walk from the Oval Office.
Following this interaction, Hokit made his controversial statement about Obama, coinciding with another UFC fighter being ejected by the Secret Service for crashing the event.
“Shoutout to Trump for having the balls to put some s--- like this on,” Hokit declared. “And if I’m going to say anything, there’s only one person more incredible than the Incredible Hok and that’s my lord and savior Jesus Christ.”
He continued, “Now listen, Alex Pereira, I wanna chama on your mama. And lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?”
The crowd at the Ellipse erupted in cheers as Hokit made his declaration, with many fans visibly applauding.
Known for his provocative remarks, Hokit has a history of making inflammatory comments. In 2025, he also claimed that Michelle Obama was a man and has openly stated he is "100 percent transphobic."
His controversial remarks extend to other fighters as well; he infamously referred to Black MMA star Torrez Finney as a "human gorilla," a move widely seen as an attempt to stir up outrage.
Hokit defends his outrageous behavior as a means to showcase what fighters should embody as entertainers. He believes that MMA fighters are becoming too focused on being stoic and polite.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, he expressed frustration with fighters who shy away from putting themselves out there. “I think MMA fighters are getting too caught up in being the macho man or the stoicism, and the polite guy,” he said.
He added, “I don’t know what’s going on in their mind. I just think they’re lazy and they don’t want to put themselves out there and put things on the line.”
Hokit emphasized his desire to stand out: “What comes to mind is the Batman quote, ‘You die a hero or live long enough to see yourself as a villain.’ So I mean, I guess, if I didn’t say anything and I gave you that fight, hopefully I just died that night, and then maybe I’ll die a hero.”
“Because I’m going to be in this game for a long time, and it’s always going to be something that you don’t like the more I put myself out there,” he concluded. “So I’m making it easy for everybody. How about you guys just don’t like me and just tune in though.”
