She’s cashing in while defending her man amid a scandal that’s shaking his campaign to its core.

Amy Gertner, wife of presumptive Maine Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner, has pocketed nearly $30,000 since September of last year as a paid staffer for her husband’s campaign. Federal Election Commission disclosures confirm she received $28,751.59 from the Graham for Maine campaign by the end of March.

Platner’s campaign is reeling from shocking revelations that he exchanged sexual messages with at least six women on Kik, an app notorious for hookups. The New York Times first reported on Gertner’s role as a paid campaign worker and noted that she flagged the explicit messages to a senior campaign aide.

In the wake of the scandal, the campaign released a video featuring Gertner addressing her husband’s actions. She expressed her anger and disappointment over media coverage, claiming it distracts from real issues like health care and education.

“It makes me really angry, disappointed, and I find it really shameful that there’s a group of media outlets and people who are willing to spread gossip,” Gertner stated in the video, which drew criticism on social media, with some likening her demeanor to that of a hostage.

“I admire the f— out of him. So when there are news articles about our marriage, it’s just extra sh—y,” she added, questioning if she could express herself freely online.
