‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Matt Brown’s Tragic End: Suicide and Ashes Revealed
Matt Brown, known from “Alaskan Bush People,” was cremated after his suicide at 43 years old.
A death certificate obtained reveals his ashes were handed over to the Okanogan County Crematory on June 24.

His body was found in the Okanogan River in Washington on May 30. An eyewitness alerted emergency services after spotting a man, later confirmed as Brown, in the water.
The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office reported that the 911 caller turned around to see a man “facedown in the water drifting away in the current” after hearing “a sound” at the river.

Bear Brown, Matt’s younger brother, had expressed fears earlier that week about Matt’s potential suicide and later confirmed that his brother “took his own life.”
“They found a body in the river a few hours ago and it was positively identified as being Matt,” Bear stated in a TikTok video.

Bear disclosed that Noah Brown, the youngest of the seven siblings, was the first family member to see Matt’s body and assist in its recovery.
Bear further claimed that Matt had been battling alcohol and drug issues for an extended period and had distanced himself from the family during his struggles.
Days after Matt's death, the Okanogan County Coroner ruled it a suicide caused by a penetrating gunshot wound to the head, according to a report.

It was also revealed that Matt was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of his death.
The show expressed its sorrow over Matt's passing on June 2, stating, “We’re saddened to hear of Matt Brown’s passing,” alongside a portrait of him holding a hat over his chest.

They acknowledged his significant presence on the show and extended thoughts to his family and friends.
In the aftermath of his death, reports surfaced about Matt's ex-girlfriend, who had ended their relationship just weeks before. She reportedly “did everything she could” to help him confront his “personal struggles.”

Insiders claimed Jamie urged him to seek professional help for months, believing she couldn’t be his “only source of strength” during his darkest times.
Those close to them described Jamie as “a positive influence in his life,” asserting she remained committed to Matt’s well-being despite their breakup.
