Carville Declares Trump Supporters as "World-Class Buffoons" Amidst Dwindling Enthusiasm

James Carville, a veteran Democratic strategist, unleashed a brutal assessment of President Donald Trump's dwindling support, claiming that only "world-class" buffoons remain in his corner.

On the "Politics War Room" podcast, Carville and co-host Al Hunt dissected listener feedback, revealing a stark observation from a Texas homeowner: Trump flags and signs are disappearing. The listener questioned whether this trend signals lower turnout and enthusiasm for the midterms.

Carville echoed the sentiment, stating, "I really agree with Kay. Anecdotal evidence, when it piles up, you just can't discard it." He shared his own experiences in south Mississippi, recalling how a year ago, people would approach him in Walmart, expressing their love for Trump.

"I never hear that anymore! I never see that!" Carville exclaimed. He noted the absence of Trump merchandise stands and pickup trucks flying flags, which were once common sights.

He continued, "What you're seeing is indicative of something. Are these people going to miraculously turn into Democrats overnight? No. But are they going to really run up the margin in rural Texas as they’ve done previously? No, I don’t think so. That’s why I’m pretty encouraged by it."

Carville emphasized the importance of visibility in political trends, asserting that consistent observations over time reveal significant shifts. He praised the Texas listener for picking up on this trend.

Earlier in the podcast, Carville didn't hold back his disdain for Trump's inner circle, labeling them as "buffoons." He expressed frustration over those who still support Trump in 2026, despite understanding why some voted for him in 2024.

"My rage is this: the people that are still for Trump. Half the country voted for him on Election Day 2024. I hear all kinds of justifications," he stated. "I certainly disagreed with it, but I think there are actually some well-meaning, smart people that voted for Trump in November 2024."

However, he drew a hard line: "If you're still for Trump, you are a world-class buffoon. Everything that he told you he cared about and was going to do, he's done none of it. The only thing this man is focused on is making money."

Carville expressed disbelief at Trump's approval rating of 36%, calling it "the outrage of this century." He acknowledged the complexity of voting decisions but insisted that continued support for Trump warrants serious self-reflection.

"If you're still for him, you yourself are an outrage; you've got to reexamine your life because there's something wrong with it," he concluded.

In response to Carville's comments, White House spokesman Davis Ingle dismissed him as a "stone-cold loser" suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome," claiming it has "rotted his peanut-sized brain."
