Chris Brown Slapped with $13 Million Judgment After 200-Pound Dog Mauls Housekeeper
Chris Brown must fork over $13 million after his 200-pound dog mauled his former housekeeper in 2020.

Maria Avila won her lawsuit against the singer, accusing him of negligence when his Caucasian Shepherd tore into her, ripping away "large chunks of her skin" and disfiguring her face at his Tarzana, California residence.
Avila was simply taking out the trash when the attack occurred, resulting in an arm injury that has left her with mobility issues.

Her husband, Oscar Olivo, received $50,000, while her sister, Patricia, was awarded $885,000 for their involvement during the incident.
In court, Brown testified about discovering Avila motionless and covered in "a lot of blood" after the brutal attack.

"The blood kind of freaked me out," the "Run It!" artist told the jury, admitting he fled the scene before first responders arrived, allegedly on the advice of his manager.

Brown claimed he wanted to avoid a media circus or having his voice recorded on a 911 call.
He also suggested that Avila bore some responsibility for the attack, stating she had been warned about the dogs and should have only gone outside when accompanied by security.

Avila firmly denied this accusation.
Brown justified owning the dogs due to "stalker-type situations."

Patricia's attorney, Michael C. Murphy Jr., expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating, "After more than five years of litigating against Chris Brown, we are thrilled that we were able to get justice for our client, Patricia."

He added, "We are so happy for her and her family after everything they went through on that horrible day. It was an honor to represent her."
A representative for Brown did not respond immediately for comment.

The R&B star has faced multiple legal troubles recently, including a May 2025 arrest related to an incident where he allegedly struck music producer Abe Diaw in the head with a tequila bottle in 2023.
Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown in 2023, claiming that he "inflicted severe and lasting injuries."
