Florida Congressman Labels NYC Mayor Mamdani a 'Muslim Terrorist' in Outrageous Rant

Jul 23 2026

A Florida congressman branded New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani a "Muslim terrorist," igniting a firestorm of outrage.

Rep. Randy Fine stood firm after his incendiary comment, defending his stance while speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill. Mamdani has been vocal against Israel, accusing it of genocide against the Palestinian people. Fine declared, "It's the truth, we should always tell the truth."

When confronted about Mamdani's status as an elected official, Fine retorted, "That doesn't mean he's not a terrorist." He provocatively questioned whether members of Hamas are terrorists, drawing a direct line between his rhetoric and the mayor's political stance.

Reporter Jacob Wasserman challenged Fine's comparison, asking, "Well, how can you compare that to the sitting mayor of New York?" Fine doubled down, asserting, "The fact that you're elected doesn't mean you're not a terrorist."

Fine accused Mamdani of criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the killing of "Muslim terrorists," insisting that as mayor, he should refrain from engaging in foreign policy.

Wasserman highlighted Mamdani's call for the federal government to act on an arrest warrant for Netanyahu issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). Fine dismissed the ICC as a "fake court," claiming the U.S. is not a party to it and cannot execute such an arrest.

Mamdani, who previously vowed to arrest Netanyahu if he visited New York City, backtracked on that promise. In a social media video, he stated that he and his team explored "every avenue available" but concluded they lacked the legal authority to enforce an arrest.

Despite this, Mamdani declared Netanyahu "not welcome" in New York, where he is expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly in September. The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in 2024 over alleged war crimes in Gaza.

The ICC also issued an arrest warrant for a Hamas commander. This court has jurisdiction over genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes committed in states that are parties to the Rome Statute.

Fine has a history of making disparaging remarks about Islam. Earlier this year, he controversially suggested he would choose dogs over Islam.

Nerdeen Kiswani, co-founder of the pro-Palestinian group Within Our Lifetime, responded to Fine's comments on social media, stating, "Finally, NYC is coming to Islam. Dogs definitely have a place in society, just not as indoor pets. Like we've said all along, they're unclean."

Kiswani's remarks referenced a common belief among Muslims regarding dogs as indoor pets. Traditional teachings suggest that indoor dogs deter angels from entering homes; thus, dogs are typically kept as working animals.

In response to Kiswani's post, Fine wrote on social media: "If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one." He followed up with another post stating, "We will not be shamed into being conquered like the Europeans. I choose my dog."

Kiswani later clarified that her comments were intended as satire.
