Gavin Newsom Unleashes Fury on Trump in Boring Independence Day Rant
California Governor Gavin Newsom unleashed a tirade against President Trump during his July Fourth address, dedicating nearly the entire eight minutes to bashing the Commander-in-Chief.
Newsom's office teased excerpts of the speech, hinting at a focus on election integrity to counter Trump's claims of rigged elections in California. Instead, the governor veered into personal attacks against Trump.
He claimed Trump is terrified of the upcoming midterm elections. “The American people will go to the polls, and President Trump knows what’s coming,” Newsom declared.

Newsom continued, “And, because he knows that, he is afraid for himself. He doesn’t care about you, he doesn’t care about America, and he hardly cares about his own political party.”
While attacking Trump for corruption, Newsom himself faces scrutiny from the federal Department of Justice alongside his wife.
“He has added more than $4 billion to his personal fortune while sitting in what is supposed to be a public trust. He told you he was going to drain the swamp, but he gave it a presidential suite,” Newsom said, targeting Trump's financial dealings.
“He is degrading the concept of American self-government in a way that no king and no foreign power has ever managed to do,” he added, ramping up the rhetoric.
Newsom recounted historical events, including Trump’s actions following his 2020 election loss and the January 6th Capitol riots. He criticized Trump for deploying the National Guard in response to protests last year.
The governor slammed the US Supreme Court for failing to challenge the Trump administration effectively.

“A man like Trump does not lose gracefully. He grabs every lever of power within reach, cheats, lies, and steals to hold on,” Newsom asserted.
He concluded by likening the fight against Trump to pivotal historical struggles such as women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement.
