GOP Analyst Challenges Trump's Claims on Violence as a Measure of His Influence

Republican strategist and political analyst Susan Del Percio confronted President Donald Trump’s recent remarks regarding a supposed third assassination attempt, which he attributed to the “impact” of his presidency rather than acknowledging the divisive rhetoric he has employed.

During an appearance on “Alex Witt Reports” Sunday, Del Percio was prompted to respond to Trump’s comparison of himself to Abraham Lincoln, made while discussing his insights on assassinations following the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Trump suggested that those who make significant impacts are often targets of violence, a notion Del Percio found perplexing. “Most people think of it now that, ‘Oh, if you do a really good job, people are going to take a shot at you.’ That’s not the case,” she asserted, highlighting her disagreement with his reasoning.

Del Percio elaborated, criticizing the administration for fostering division within the country. “What this administration has done is worked so hard to divide this country, to hurt the people they don’t like, and they don’t mind the violence as long as it’s towards, you know, supporting them,” she stated.

In a lighter moment during his press conference, Trump quipped about the dangers of his role, saying, “nobody told me this was such a dangerous profession.”

The individual suspected of attempting to attack Trump is identified as a 31-year-old man from California, who reportedly engaged in gunfire with law enforcement outside the event venue.

Del Percio expressed concern over the current state of gun violence in America, remarking on the chaos it has created. She emphasized the urgent need for legislators from both parties to address this escalating issue.
