JD Vance Claps Back at Joe Rogan's Critique of MAGA Supporters

Mar 28 2026

Vice President J.D. Vance took a stand against Joe Rogan’s recent comments, where the podcaster and former Trump supporter referred to MAGA supporters as “dorks.”

During a segment on “The Benny Show,” host Benny Johnson prompted Vance to address Rogan’s remarks, which included harsh descriptors like “uninteresting” and “unintelligent.”

Vance responded with laughter, emphasizing his loyalty to the MAGA base while dismissing Rogan’s critique. “I think we have many, many fewer dorks than the far left, but everybody's got some dorks,” he stated. “We love our dorks. We love our cool kids. We love anybody who wants to save the country.”

This exchange follows Rogan’s comments on his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” where he expressed that the MAGA movement has lost its original focus.

"That phrase sucks ... Make America Great Again, and then it becomes a movement of a bunch of f**king dorks because a lot of them are dorks,” Rogan remarked, criticizing the diversity within the movement.

He elaborated, saying, "A lot of them are these really weird, f**king uninteresting, unintelligent people that have got something they cling to, and there's a lot of people that are just real genuine patriots, and they're all lumped into this one group, and you got to accept the dorks, too? F** that.”

Rogan, who initially supported Trump for the 2024 election, has since begun to distance himself from the former president. His critiques have extended to various aspects of Trump’s policies, including immigration enforcement and military actions.

Specifically, Rogan has voiced concerns about the aggressive nature of immigration raids, suggesting they often target individuals without serious criminal backgrounds. He has also questioned whether U.S. enforcement tactics are becoming overly militarized.

On a recent episode, he criticized Trump’s military strategies regarding Iran. “It just seems so insane based on what he ran on,” Rogan told independent journalist Michael Shellenberger. “I mean, this is why a lot of people feel betrayed, right? He ran on ‘No more wars, end these stupid, senseless wars,’ and then we have one that we can’t even really clearly define why we did it.”

Returning to “The Benny Show,” Vance countered Rogan’s assertion that former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were more effective at deporting undocumented immigrants than Trump. “Joe is wrong on this. I'm going to text Joe, because that is definitely wrong,” Vance asserted to Johnson.
