Trump Claims Victory with 'The Gay Vote,' Critics Push Back
During a recent phone interview with Fox News, President Donald Trump declared, “No Republicans ever gotten the gay vote like I did,” igniting immediate backlash from critics.
“I think I did very well with the gay vote. I even played the gay national anthem as my walk-off,” Trump stated on the program “The Five.”
His reference to the “gay national anthem” was likely aimed at the Village People’s hit “Y.M.C.A.,” a song he has often featured at rallies and campaign events.
Trump further claimed his connection to the LGBTQ+ community stemmed from his roots in New York City.
Social media erupted with skepticism, as many users pointed out that his assertion of winning the “gay vote” was unfounded.
Contrary to Trump’s claims, an exit poll from NBC regarding the 2024 presidential election revealed that a significant majority of LGBT voters supported former Vice President Kamala Harris, with an overwhelming 86% favoring her over Trump’s 12%. This marked the highest percentage for a Democratic candidate among LGBT voters in the past five presidential elections.
