Jelly Roll's Marriage Crumbles Amid Weight Loss Struggles and MAGA Controversy

Jelly Roll's marriage is in ruins, and he admits to "losing his way" just before the split from Bunnie Xo.

The country singer filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple's separation date is recorded as May 9, following nearly a decade of marriage.

This shocking news comes after the couple attended the 2026 Grammy Awards together in February, where Jelly Roll dedicated his Best Contemporary Country Album win to Bunnie Xo. They even renewed their vows in 2023, making the split even more unexpected.

Months prior to the divorce, Jelly Roll suffered a collarbone injury that halted his weight loss journey. He revealed he remains 40 to 60 pounds short of his target weight, stating, "I have, to some degree, lost my way." Bunnie Xo disclosed that Jelly Roll was "hurt" by online harassment regarding his weight.

Once tipping the scales at 540 pounds, Jelly Roll has managed to drop to approximately 265 pounds, but this still falls short of his aspirations.

He dreams of gracing the cover of major magazines like GQ or Rolling Stone with his shirt off, claiming, "there's this story where a guy can go from 560 pounds to a shirt-off picture."

Jelly Roll faced backlash for his participation in the Rock the Country tour, which will not include a stop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Rock band Staind will take his place for that date.

The tour is marketed as "a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit that’s carried America through 250 years," but it has been labeled MAGA-adjacent due to the political affiliations of artists like Kid Rock and Jason Aldean.

Jelly Roll has called himself a "dumb redneck," stating that people shouldn't care about his political opinions. However, a photo surfaced of him with former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who praised him for having an "incredible" heart.

The Rock the Country tour will also feature Blake Shelton, Brooks and Dunn, Miranda Lambert, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Shinedown withdrew from the event, emphasizing their mission to unite rather than divide. Rapper Ludacris also pulled out, with a representative stating that "lines got crossed" regarding his participation.

In mid-April, Rock the Country slashed ticket prices due to rising fuel costs, offering up to 50% off general admission passes for select small-town stops. "Take advantage of this offer, fill up your tank and we’ll see you this summer!" the festival announced.
