Kanye West Faces Lawsuit After Allegedly Knocking Out Man with One Punch at Iconic Chateau Marmont

Kanye West, now known as Ye, is at the center of a lawsuit following an alleged assault at the renowned Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. The incident reportedly occurred on April 16, 2024, around 11 p.m., when West approached a man seated at a table in the hotel's garden.

According to the complaint filed on March 13, West “without warning, punched [the man] in the face.” This accusation includes claims of battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The individual, referred to as John Doe in legal documents, asserts that the force of the punch caused him to fall to the ground, resulting in a head injury and loss of consciousness.

Further allegations suggest that West continued to strike Doe while he lay incapacitated. The complaint emphasizes that Doe did not provoke this attack. In the aftermath, West allegedly accused him of inappropriate behavior towards a woman in his party, claims that Doe vehemently denies.

“The evidence, including video recordings from the scene, proves that [John Doe] did not engage in any inappropriate or offensive conduct with a woman in [West's] party, or anyone else,” the complaint states. This assertion aims to counter West's claims and establish Doe's innocence.

Robert Shapiro, attorney for John Doe, commented, “The complaint speaks for itself. We filed it under John Doe to maintain anonymity for all parties involved and to explore confidential mediation options.”

In a separate legal matter, West was recently found liable by a Los Angeles jury for unpaid wages and wrongful termination related to his $57 million Malibu mansion. His former project manager, Tony Saxon, alleged he was not compensated for his work and suffered injuries during his employment. Although Saxon sought $1.7 million in damages, the jury awarded him $140,000 without punitive damages.

West has since filed a motion to overturn this jury decision. As for the latest allegations regarding the punch, no representative for West has provided comments on the matter.
