Kari Lake Targets Jake Tapper Amid White House Correspondents’ Dinner Chaos

Kari Lake, a prominent figure in the MAGA movement, found herself in a heated exchange with CNN anchor Jake Tapper during a chaotic evacuation from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where gunfire erupted.

As attendees fled the Washington Hilton, Lake, who serves as a senior advisor to the United States Agency for Global Media, seized the moment to confront Tapper directly. “I walked out right next to Jake Tapper and looked him in the eye,” she recounted on Newsmax shortly after the incident. “And I said, ‘How dare you? You have caused so much division in this country pushing lies. We’re not going to call it gaslighting anymore — you’ve lied to the people. How dare you do that?”

In a post on X, she expressed her frustration further: “These reporters have spent a decade spreading absolute lies about President Trump. They share some of the blame for what happened tonight. As a mother, I’m exhausted by it. I couldn’t stay silent and walk out pretending someone like Jake Tapper is one of the good guys.”

Tapper has yet to respond to Lake’s accusations regarding his reporting on Trump. Meanwhile, Lake did not stop at blaming Tapper; she also criticized the overall security measures at the event, which left one Secret Service agent injured. “I can’t believe how lax the security was at the White House correspondents dinner tonight,” she tweeted. “Upon entering, nobody asked to visibly INSPECT my ticket nor asked for my photo identification. All one had to do was flash what appeared to be a ticket and they were fine with that.”

Lake continued her tirade, stating, “When you consider you are entering a roomful of fake news media — 90% of whom hate the President — you would think they would have better security... On the way out, I called out a bunch of the disgusting Media who have been pushing hatred toward President Trump for years. They are a big part of the discord in this country.”

The alleged shooter has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California. He is currently in custody and is expected to face arraignment on Monday after being subdued while reportedly firing his weapon.

Lake has consistently criticized mainstream media outlets for their perceived bias against Trump. Last year, she attempted to terminate over 500 employees as part of her role at Voice of America, an action viewed as an effort to reshape the agency. However, a federal judge deemed her appointment illegal last month, leading to the reversal of those layoffs.
