Karoline Leavitt's Job in Jeopardy as Margo Martin Climbs the Ranks
Karoline Leavitt's position hangs by a thread as Margo Martin, Donald Trump's communications advisor, rises through the ranks.
Martin, 30, gained visibility through her role with the president, even accompanying him on a trip to China. Meanwhile, Leavitt has stepped back from her duties as White House press secretary due to maternity leave after having her second child.
With Leavitt absent, speculation swirls on social media about her potential replacement by Martin. Reports suggest Leavitt has been attempting to outshine Martin. PR expert John Goodman indicated that if Leavitt were to exit, Martin could transition smoothly into a television career.
Goodman stated, "If and when she leaves the administration, she would almost certainly have opportunities with conservative outlets such as Fox News, Newsmax or One America News Network."
However, Goodman painted a grim picture for Leavitt's prospects with other networks. He remarked, "She has no future among the mainstream news organizations given how polarizing and contentious her tenure has become."
While Leavitt might find a path at Fox News, Goodman suggested that her job security remains intact because she caters to one audience: Donald Trump.
Goodman elaborated on Leavitt's press briefings, describing them as "highly combative, heavy on spin, and at times detached from verifiable facts." Critics outside pro-Trump circles frequently cite her "lack of credibility," especially when she dismisses negative coverage of Trump's policies.
Supporters within MAGA media argue that Leavitt is effective due to her forceful defense of the administration and her communication style that resonates with Trump.
Despite Goodman's belief in Leavitt's job security, Trump has shown significant enthusiasm for Martin. He previously called her "the most beautiful photographer in the world" and has kept her close during public appearances.
Trump has also praised Leavitt, labeling her a "superstar" and drawing attention to her looks. During an exchange aboard Air Force One last October, he complimented her appearance, assuring reporters that she would "never" be replaced. He quipped, "That face... and those lips, they move like a machine gun, right?"
At a rally in Pennsylvania two months later, Trump reiterated his admiration for Leavitt. "We even brought our superstar today, Karoline. Isn’t she great? Is Karoline great? You know, when she goes on television, Fox, like, I mean, they dominate," he said.
Trump continued his praise: "And those lips that don’t stop. Pop-pop-pop like a little machine gun. She’s got no fear, and you know why she has no fear? Because we have the right policy."
