Lawrence O'Donnell Berates 'Entitled Child' Trump Over Bold Iran War Assertion

On Tuesday, MS NOW host Lawrence O'Donnell unleashed a scathing critique of Donald Trump, who boldly claimed that the U.S. could achieve “control of anything we want” during discussions about the Iran war. This statement came during a White House press briefing where Trump was questioned about control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, despite Iranian officials denying any ongoing peace negotiations.

“The man who initiated the most costly war in history without a clear rationale continues to sound like an entitled child,” O'Donnell remarked, referencing a conflict that has already cost the U.S. an estimated $12.7 billion within just the first six days—a figure that continues to escalate.

After airing a clip of Trump’s remarks, O'Donnell reiterated, “‘We’ll have control of anything we want.’ He now aims to dominate the Strait of Hormuz, yet he lacks the means to do so.” The host emphasized that the strait has been effectively closed since the onset of the war, contrasting it with its previous status as “free and open to shipping” just weeks prior.

Trump's assertion that the U.S. can seize whatever it desires coincides with a plummeting approval rating, which has dipped to a dismal 36% due to the war's impact on fuel prices.

“Donald Trump is frantically searching for an exit strategy that won’t appear as total capitulation,” O'Donnell contended.

In a peculiar twist, Trump suggested that the Iranian regime had presented the U.S. with a “very big present,” which Politico speculated could refer to a ship transporting Iranian crude oil safely out of the strait.

“Baffled, indeed. One ship. One ship navigating through the strait and Donald Trump celebrates it as a remarkable gift, a ‘very significant prize,’” O'Donnell commented.

However, as Bloomberg has reported, no ship carrying Iranian crude has successfully traversed the strait.

“The only authority capable of permitting a ship's movement in this context is the current Iranian ruling regime, which remains unchanged since before Donald Trump initiated his war,” O'Donnell pointed out.
