Mark Hamill Deletes Image of Trump Depicted as Deceased and Posts New Photo to 'Apologize' After Backlash

Mark Hamill stirred the pot on social media, igniting a firestorm after he shared a provocative image of Donald Trump lying over a grave, captioned “If Only.” This post hit the internet just days after an assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, raising eyebrows and tempers alike.

Hamill’s original post on Bluesky didn’t just ruffle feathers; it sent shockwaves through political circles. “He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes,” he declared, showcasing his disdain for the former president.

The White House quickly responded, with spokesman Davis Ingle slamming Hamill’s words. “Barack Hussein Obama just appeared in a video with this deranged lunatic three days ago. Now this same person is calling for President Trump to die,” he stated, questioning why Democrats wouldn’t denounce such a “disgusting call to violence.”

By Thursday, the backlash forced Hamill’s hand. The controversial image was deleted, replaced by a new post featuring Trump with windswept hair. “Accurate Edit for Clarity: ‘He should live long enough to…be held accountable for his…crimes.’ Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate,” he wrote, attempting to clarify his intentions.

Hamill has never shied away from criticizing Trump, even expressing shame over America’s choice to elect him twice. “It’s one thing for him to have sneaked by the first time — when he got re-elected, that’s on us,” he lamented on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast last September. “That’s [what] I’m really ashamed of — because I always thought there are more decent Americans, honest Americans than there are others.”
