Pete Davidson's Charlie Kirk Roast: A Desperate Bid for Relevance?

May 11 2026

Pete Davidson is stirring the pot again, and this time, he’s not holding back. The former SNL star took the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on May 10 for The Roast of Kevin Hart, and his sharp tongue aimed straight at Kanye West and MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk.

“Tony [Hinchcliffe] reminds me of Charlie Kirk in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat,” Davidson quipped, before adding, “Kill Tony, please. Someone f-----g kill Tony. Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings.” This jab comes on the heels of Kirk’s tragic death during a rally at Utah Valley University.

But Davidson didn’t stop there. He turned his sights to Kanye, saying, “I was in a beef with Kanye. So I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis,” referencing the rapper’s own bizarre self-identification in a 2025 post where he used several offensive terms, including “Nazi.”

Davidson’s history with Kanye runs deep; he briefly dated Kim Kardashian, Kanye’s ex-wife, in 2021 before their split in August 2022. Now, he’s reigniting that feud by labeling Kanye a “gay Nazi,” a move that has left many scratching their heads.

The audience reaction? Not so great. After clips of the roast hit social media, one viewer slammed Davidson’s performance as “a sad attempt to stay relevant,” lamenting that he was once considered cool. Another chimed in, “Pete Davidson came with nothing to lose. Throwing punches like he had immunity... I’m sure Erik Kirk is not having it,” referring to Charlie’s widow.

Critics were quick to point out that Davidson often drags politics into comedy where it doesn’t belong, making half the audience uncomfortable just to snag a viral clip later. “Pete Davidson’s set ranked among the worst of the night, and most of the rosters weren’t even comedians,” one critic noted, expressing disappointment in what they saw as a once-promising comedian with little left to offer.

In early February 2025, Kanye unleashed a series of erratic posts on social media, claiming everything from controlling his wife Bianca Censori to accusing billionaire Elon Musk of “stealing” his “Nazi swag.” His statements included shocking proclamations like “I’M A NAZI” and “I LOVE HITLER NOW! WHAT B----.”

He doubled down on his controversial stance, declaring, “I’M NEVER APOLOGIZING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS. I CAN DO WHATEVER THE F--- I WANNA SAY FOREVER.” In another post, he provocatively stated, “CALL ME YAYDOLF YITLER AND YOUR B---- STILL WANTS TO F---,” alongside comments about normalizing discussions around Hitler.

As for Pete and Kim’s relationship? Kanye made his disdain clear, even going so far as to label her boyfriend “Sk-te” and releasing a disturbing music video depicting Davidson’s decapitation.

During this tumultuous time, Kanye shared a contentious text exchange with Davidson that was later deleted. In one message, Pete urged Kanye to calm down: “Yo, it’s Sk-te. Can you please take a second to calm down? It’s 8 am and it don’t gotta be like this. Kim is literally the best mother I’ve ever met.”
