Spencer Pratt's LA Mayoral Bid Labeled a 'Joke' by Voters

Spencer Pratt, the former reality star, is facing brutal backlash as MS NOW viewers declare him "a joke" in his bid for LA mayor.

At 42 years old, Pratt is up against incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and City Council member Nithya Raman. His campaign, fueled by viral videos, targets Bass, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and others.

Pratt is currently in a fierce contest for second place against Raman after Bass secured her position on the November ballot. In a recent confrontation, he labeled his opponents "pathological liars" when questioned about being branded MAGA and ultra-right.

During the primary election on June 2, a voter harshly criticized Pratt, stating he is not a viable choice for LA mayor. The voter expressed disdain for Pratt, saying, "Absolutely not. He's a joke. I didn't like him back in the day when we watched him on TV, and I don't like him now."

This voter indicated support for Raman, a progressive Democrat who entered the race late. Another critic echoed this sentiment on X, questioning, "What type of idiot would vote for Spencer Pratt?"

Comments continued to pour in, with one user stating, "There's a lot to criticize Bass for, but the answer is not a moron named Pratt." However, some defended Pratt, arguing that LA voters are too shortsighted to embrace change.

One supporter remarked, "When people say they 'don't like Pratt' because of a TV show he did when he was 20, ask them what job they had when they were 20. Nobody has a great job at 20. Not then, not now, not ever." Another added, "Judging someone from 20 years ago is wild."

As results rolled in on Tuesday night, Pratt expressed eagerness for weekly debates with Bass, stating, "We can do debates every Friday if she would like," addressing reporters.

He claimed his motivation stems from feeling let down by the city and emphasized his desire to address homelessness and other pressing issues in LA.

Pratt asserted that his support spans both Democratic and Republican lines, simplifying his campaign message to: "I'm an Angeleno who said enough is enough, and I had to step up." He concluded with a casual remark about grabbing tacos.

Pratt lost his Pacific Palisades home in the January 2025 wildfires and has centered his campaign around the aftermath of that disaster, focusing on homelessness, crime, fire preparedness, and the high cost of living in LA.
