St. Louis Cardinals' Masyn Winn Faces Frightening Car Incident Just After Game-Winning Moment
Hours after clinching victory for the St. Louis Cardinals with a decisive hit against the New York Mets, shortstop Masyn Winn found himself in a precarious situation on the road. On April 1, he was involved in a single-car accident on Interstate 64/Highway 40, attributed to slick conditions.

“Following [Wednesday’s] game, Masyn Winn was involved in a single-car accident on Interstate 64/Highway 40 due to wet pavement,” stated an official report. The young athlete, who was alone in the vehicle, received immediate assistance from local authorities and Cardinals medical personnel. After being evaluated at a nearby hospital, it was confirmed that he sustained no serious injuries.
The organization expressed relief in their statement: “We are grateful that he is OK, and thank the first responders in our community who helped Masyn [yesterday].” This incident comes just as the team prepares for their next series against the Detroit Tigers.

Winn, 24, has had a rocky start to the season, with a batting average of just 4-25 over the first six games. However, his game-winning hit in the 11th inning marked a pivotal moment for the team, securing their second consecutive win. “It wasn’t the best swing,” he reflected post-game. “But I was just trying to get to first base, just in case.”

He further elaborated on his performance, recalling how a similar hit last season sparked his momentum: “I think a swinging bunt was my first hit last year — I think that’s what got me going. So maybe it’s something like that… At some point, I’m going to get hot, for sure.”

“Locked in with my fortnite duo for life,” they captioned a series of engagement photos on Instagram. Pettus later shared details about the surprise proposal, expressing gratitude for her loved ones’ efforts: “Rich in life because of my friends, family, and my fiancé,” she wrote. “From months of planning, weeks of buying all the supplies, and a full day of setting up everything, my people really gave me the greatest gift ever.”
The engagement took place at her grandmother’s house, a location filled with childhood memories for Pettus. “Right next to the tire swing I spent my childhood playing on,” she reminisced.
