Teen Arrested After Multiple Women Report Escalator Assaults at Sainsbury's
A 19-year-old has been arrested after a disturbing series of alleged sexual assaults at a Sainsbury's superstore in Rustington, West Sussex.
Sussex Police confirmed that multiple women reported incidents occurring on the escalator, prompting an immediate investigation with the help of Sainsbury's security team.
The young man from Littlehampton faces charges of sexual assault by touching, as authorities work to gather more information. Police are calling on witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police stated, “Our enquiries, with the cooperation of Sainsbury's security, have led to a 19-year-old man from Littlehampton being arrested for sexual assault by touching.”
Victims and witnesses are urged to contact police on 101, referencing serial 1021 of 02/05.

In a separate incident that raises eyebrows, a man allegedly groped a woman while she slept next to him on a flight, later returning to hand her an unsettling note.
Guillaume Sebastien Roger Mattler, 48, is facing charges of abusive sexual contact after the incident aboard Swiss International Air Lines Flight LX64, which was headed for Miami.
According to court documents, while the 29-year-old woman dozed off in first class, Mattler allegedly attempted to slip his fingers beneath her clothing. Two passengers recorded the shocking behavior.
“Witness 2 observed Mattler moving his hand in a ‘submarine’ motion, as if trying to get his hand under the Victim’s clothing and/or between her legs,” an FBI Special Agent detailed.
One concerned passenger alerted the flight crew after witnessing Mattler’s hand on the woman’s “crotch, over her jeans, making a scooping or rubbing motion.”

The woman remained oblivious to the assault until a flight attendant informed her, leading to a panic-stricken reaction.
In a chilling twist, Mattler later approached her with a note that read: “You look beautiful when you are sleeping.”
Despite denying any wrongdoing and claiming “nothing had happened,” he reportedly admitted to touching her when confronted with video evidence. He downplayed the incident, stating he “only” touched her lower back and buttocks.
Mattler is set to appear in court again on Monday following his initial hearing last week.
