Trump Administration and MTG Trade Blistering Barbs Over Iran Conflict
On Friday, a heated exchange erupted between former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and the Trump administration, ignited by President Donald Trump’s lighthearted comments about their ongoing feud during a cabinet meeting the previous day.
Greene directed sharp criticism at Trump, attributing the soaring cost of living to the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has led to a significant spike in global oil prices and a notable decline in the stock market.
“Americans don’t give a damn about Trump building a WH ballroom or renovating the Kennedy Center as they are paying $4+ dollars per gallon for gas and nearly $6 for diesel because of another pointless foreign war,” Greene expressed on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Her post continued with a scathing rebuke: “Don’t lecture your voters that you have to vote for them when you have intentionally failed and betrayed your campaign promises just because the other side is intolerable. Screw you. You betray Americans, you put Americans last, you deserve to lose, you don’t deserve support. Many Americans are learning to live without the system and want nothing to do with any of it.”
The White House responded swiftly, issuing a statement to a news outlet. “There is nothing more ‘America Last’ than quitting on your constituents and the MAGA movement in the middle of your term. President Trump is fighting every single day to Make America Great Again – we don’t have time for quitters,” said White House spokesperson David Ingle.
This exchange follows Greene’s fiancé, Brian Glenn, who serves as chief White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice, returning to the White House press corps. Trump appeared to reference their feud when he acknowledged Glenn’s presence. “I think I’m going to go with a man that I’ve missed. Brian, I haven’t seen you in a long time. He’s been in a very strange location. I don’t know. He’s had a strange thing happen,” Trump remarked.
Prior to Greene’s resignation from Congress, Trump had labeled her a “traitor” after she advocated for the public release of Jeffrey Epstein’s files. Despite her departure from Congress, Greene has continued to voice her criticisms of Trump.
