Trump's Epic Blunder: Claims White House is 250 Years Old While Unveiling 'Tacky' Eagle

Jun 30 2026

President Donald Trump just dropped a colossal blunder, claiming the White House is 250 years old while unveiling a golden eagle decoration. The actual age? A mere 209 years. This miscalculation comes as he presents a massive eagle with a wingspan of 7 to 8 feet, set to adorn the balcony overlooking the South Lawn.

The eagle, designed to clutch a crest encircled by 11 stars, is affixed to the White House columns. This extravagant display is meant to celebrate the building's anniversary, but it’s marred by Trump's glaring error.

After the White House was set ablaze in 1814, reconstruction wrapped up in 1817, marking that year as its true "birthday." Critics wasted no time in slamming the decoration, with one user on X branding it "tacky and fashy." Journalist Aaron Rupar echoed this sentiment, sharing Trump's announcement post.

As Trump flaunts his new decoration, Americans are grappling with financial strain due to the ongoing Iran war. One user lamented, "We can’t afford rent or groceries," highlighting the economic distress many face.

The Iran conflict has added approximately $1,000 in extra costs for the average American household since late February. Moody's Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi reported that inflation hit a three-year high in May, driven largely by soaring gasoline prices that peaked at $4.56 per gallon before dipping below $4 recently.

Since February 28, Americans have shelled out an additional $300 just for fuel, excluding specialty fuels like diesel. The spike in diesel prices has escalated transportation costs for goods, pushing retail prices higher.

Zandi also noted that elevated gas prices have forced households to spend an extra $200 on groceries. Airline expenses have surged as well, costing families an additional $100 due to increased jet fuel prices.

Interest rates are compounding these financial woes, with an estimated $150 added to household expenses. Economists warn that inflation from the war has derailed any plans for the Federal Reserve to lower rates, with some predicting an increase later this year.

Taxpayers are also feeling the pinch, with military operations costing around $250 per household. The U.S. is burning through $50 million daily in its war against Iran, with some estimates placing total operational costs at $50 billion—1,000 times Zandi's conservative figure.

A Pentagon official revealed that Operation Epic Fury has racked up about $25 billion in costs, not accounting for damaged military assets. Zandi stated, "My estimate that the Iran war has cost the typical American household $1,000 and counting is, if anything, conservative." He believes the true cost is likely much higher.

As both nations continue to exchange military strikes, a lasting peace agreement remains elusive. A recent Gallup poll found that around two-thirds of Americans report financial hardship directly linked to rising fuel prices.
