Kai Trump Sparks Outrage by Claiming the White House as 'My House' During Tour

Jun 28 2026

Kai Trump ignited fury online by referring to the White House as "my house" during a video tour of the Oval Office, triggering a wave of backlash.

Critics on social media slammed her for the comment, with one account on X questioning her audacity: "Why is Donald Trump’s granddaughter calling the White House 'my house'? It belongs to the American people."

In her YouTube video, Kai showcased the White House and the Oval Office while providing behind-the-scenes footage of UFC Freedom 250, an event held on the South Lawn. Donald Trump hosted thousands of armed forces members at this exclusive gathering.

One user on X labeled the Trump family's actions as "grifting," stating, "I absolutely cannot wait to evict this entire grifting family from the people’s house. Tick tock."

Another commenter added, "The Constitution says president, not king. Somebody should update the family group chat."

Kai confirmed the existence of a Diet Coke button on Donald Trump's desk in the Oval Office, a detail that had been rumored for years.

During her tour, she pointed out the red button housed in a wooden box on the Resolute Desk, a modification made by Trump during his presidency.

The Oval Office underwent significant changes under Trump, including extensive gold decor. In her video, Kai joked about her grandfather's fondness for gold: "Everything's gold, because my grandpa hates gold... that’s a joke, he loves gold. It’s his favorite thing on the planet."

She highlighted various items on the desk, including Sharpies and coasters, before explaining how the Diet Coke button works: "So he presses the red button, and Diet Coke comes out."

The Oval Office transforms during Inauguration Day to reflect the new president's preferences. Joe Biden stripped much of Trump's decor upon taking office.

However, reports indicate that Trump restored his previous modifications, including the Diet Coke button, upon resuming the presidency.

Though Trump has never publicly acknowledged the button's existence, he activated it in front of media members, resulting in a swift delivery of the drink.

In 2017, he remarked, "Everyone does get a little nervous when I press that button."

Kai frequently shares glimpses of her time with her grandfather as she prepares for college life this year.

She has enrolled at the University of Miami and plans to join the school’s golf program after competing in numerous tournaments over recent years.
