Vance's Jaw-Dropping Historical Ignorance Sparks Outrage Over Trump's Iran War Justification

Vice President JD Vance just crashed and burned in a shocking display of historical ignorance while attempting to defend President Donald Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict.

During an interview on Meet the Press, Vance urged Americans to remain patient regarding negotiations with Iran, claiming that “every major conflict” in history, including World War II, concluded through negotiations.

“This is how wars ultimately get settled. If you go back to World War II, if you go back to World War I, if you go back to every major conflict in human history, they all end with some kind of negotiation,” Vance stated. This comes as Trump distracts the public with his antics.

However, the reality is that World War II did not wrap up through negotiations. The Axis powers—Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan—were forced into unconditional surrender. After Adolf Hitler’s suicide, his successor, Grand Admiral Karl Donitz, attempted to negotiate a surrender only to the Western Allies to avoid Soviet capture.

The Allies flatly rejected this proposal. Germany signed the unconditional surrender documents at General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s headquarters in Reims, France, on May 7, 1945.

In Japan’s case, following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Soviet invasion of Manchuria, Emperor Hirohito accepted the terms of the Potsdam Declaration. Japan surrendered unconditionally on August 10, 1945.

While ceasefire talks and diplomatic exchanges did occur to arrange the logistics of these surrenders, they were merely technicalities—not negotiations.

Social media users wasted no time in calling out Vance’s blunder, with many expressing embarrassment over his lack of knowledge regarding such a fundamental aspect of World War II.

“It is frankly embarrassing that a sitting U.S. Vice President is unaware of one of the most elementary facts of World War II. Nazi Germany did not negotiate an end to World War II. The war in Europe ended with Germany’s unconditional surrender after total military defeat and the collapse of the regime in May 1945,” one user wrote on X.

Another user questioned Vance’s logic: “What is JD’s point? That the operation with Iran will be settled with negotiations? How has that worked so far? Trump keeps getting his butt handed to him because they play him like a piano.”

A third user bluntly stated, “He is wrong. The WWII ended through unconditional surrender, not negotiated peace settlements. Germany and Japan both capitulated after military defeat.”

Vance’s comments surfaced as President Donald Trump threatened on Saturday to unleash nuclear weapons on Iran if Tehran does not quickly approve a deal to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Trump took to Truth Social to express his desire for a deal with Iran, blaming former President Barack Obama for paving an “easy, beautiful, smooth road to a Nuclear Weapon” for Tehran.

“Barack Hussein Obama’s Deal with Iran, the JCPOA, was an easy, beautiful, smooth road to a Nuclear Weapon, which Iran would have had six years ago, and would have used long before now. My Agreement with Iran is the exact opposite, A WALL TO NO NUCLEAR WEAPON!” Trump declared.

He further claimed that Iran no longer desires a nuclear weapon and that a deal is set to be signed imminently. “The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” he added.

Trump asserted he has established a better relationship with Iran than previous administrations and promised to send American troops to Iran to acquire nuclear materials for destruction once the war concludes and “when all is calm.”

“We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future. Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!” he stated.

This isn’t Trump’s first time issuing threats against Iran over negotiations. Earlier this year, he vowed to obliterate “a whole civilization” if they did not agree to a ceasefire but later backtracked after reaching a two-week ceasefire deal.

Trump’s statements followed his denial of a reported $12 billion deal with Iran aimed at ending the war in the Middle East. He accused Tehran of leaking false information about the deal to the media and labeled them as “weak and pathetic.”

The purported terms included an immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts, lifting the naval blockade within 30 days, withdrawing U.S. forces from areas surrounding Iran, reopening the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian arrangements within 30 days, suspending sanctions on Iranian oil sales and petrochemical products, and granting full access to Iranian revenues.

This comes as Pete Hegseth was humiliated as he struggles to complete a bench press in front of soldiers.
