Boston Kids’ Lemonade Stand Hit by Armed Thieves in Daylight Heist

Two children in Boston, an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, faced a terrifying armed robbery while trying to earn some summer cash at their lemonade stand.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on a Wednesday, the young entrepreneurs encountered two juvenile suspects who approached their stand in South Boston. The suspects initially asked if the children accepted Apple Pay.

Before the kids could respond, one suspect snatched the cash box while the other revealed a black firearm tucked into his waistband.

The duo fled on foot with the cash box containing $50. The children immediately contacted their father, who called 911 for help.

No arrests have been made as of now, but police have released images and a short video showing the juvenile suspects lingering in the area.

The children’s mother, Jennifer Byrne, expressed her horror over the incident, stating it has left her and her kids traumatized.

Byrne received the alarming news while at work when her daughter called her, crying uncontrollably.

“Somebody put a gun to us and took all of our money,” her daughter told her over the phone.

When the suspects threatened, “We’re taking it all,” the girl raised her arms and pleaded, “Just take it. Just take it.”

A neighbor spotted one of the suspects with the pink cash box shortly after the robbery and yelled for them to stop.

The thieves dropped the box but quickly grabbed the $50 inside before fleeing again.

Byrne reported that her son described one suspect as a smaller black male, likely around 10 or 11 years old, wearing a balaclava-style mask. The other suspect was described as a black male in his early teens, also wearing a balaclava-style mask, along with a black shirt, shorts, and high white socks.

“There’s two innocent little kids just trying to make some slush money, and they have to fear for their life. It’s horrific. It’s horrific. I have no other words,” Byrne stated.

Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn commented on Facebook that this armed robbery underscores the urgent need for “more police officers and to redouble our community policing efforts.”

Flynn added, “The thoughts of our entire community are with the young children and the families who had to endure this terrible and senseless ordeal.”

He emphasized that no one envisions a scenario where a children’s lemonade stand is robbed at gunpoint in what is supposed to be the safest city in America.

In response to this shocking event, neighbors are rallying together to support the young victims by organizing a new lemonade stand on Friday evening to help them recover their losses.
