Driver Outraged After Council Workers Pull Sneaky Parking Switcheroo
A driver in Rome was blindsided by a €29.40 fine after council workers pulled a fast one, changing parking lines while he was away from his car.
Stefano Angeloni posted a video showing his vehicle parked legally in a white-lined space, only to return and find blue lines painted around his tires. The city’s parking rules are clear: white lines mean free parking, while blue lines require payment.
Angeloni’s clip captures his disbelief as he explains, “I leave my car in a white-lined space; then, one night, they come by and paint over the white lines with blue ones.” He highlights the absurdity of the situation, noting that the workers couldn’t paint under his car, leaving him with a fine for parking in what was once a legal spot.
The sudden color change left him with a hefty ticket, and his frustration is palpable as he sarcastically remarks, “The result? A nice fat fine. Fantastic, right? We’re in a fantastic city.”

The video exploded online, racking up over a million views and sparking a flood of comments criticizing the council’s actions. One user quipped about using white paint to avoid future fines, while another pointed out that the wheel was still on the white line, suggesting he shouldn’t have to pay.
Angeloni’s daughter chimed in on Instagram, revealing that the viral post was shared by mistake and that her father didn’t even realize how widely it had spread.
The incident highlights the ongoing frustrations drivers face with local parking regulations and enforcement tactics. The City Council of Rome’s decision to change the line colors without notice has drawn ire from many who see it as a blatant money grab.
In Rome, colored lines dictate parking rules: white means free, blue means pay. The sudden switch left Angeloni feeling cheated and has sparked outrage among viewers who sympathize with his plight.

“Look at this fantastic parking spot I found,” Angeloni says in the video, capturing the moment of his shock. The council’s actions have turned a simple parking experience into a viral sensation, showcasing the absurdity of bureaucratic decisions impacting everyday citizens.
“You gave me a great idea,” one commenter said. “I will never pay for parking again.”
Angeloni’s experience serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by drivers navigating complex urban parking regulations.
“This was posted by my dad by mistake,” his daughter noted, unaware of the viral storm it would create.
