Gavin Newsom Rips Into Trump Over Gaudy Gold Idol
A shiny new gold statue of Donald Trump has landed at Mar-a-Lago, and California Governor Gavin Newsom isn’t holding back. The statue, which features Trump with a raised fist and draped in a blue and white sash, was unveiled amidst a gathering of MAGA supporters who were there to bless this bizarre tribute.
In a video that’s making waves, the crowd can be seen rallying around the golden idol as Trump himself addresses them via speakerphone. “Hello everybody, I want to thank you so much for being there today, and more importantly for what you did,” he says, sounding more like a cult leader than a former president.
Trump goes on to gush about the statue, calling it “beautiful” and reminiscing about seeing it during a PGA tournament. “I got to look at it very closely and it’s incredible,” he adds, as cheers erupt from the crowd. The whole scene feels like a surreal blend of worship and spectacle.
Newsom, not one to shy away from controversy, reposted the video with a sharp biblical jab: “Do not turn idols or make metal gods for yourselves - Leviticus 19:4.” His tweet ignited a firestorm of reactions, with some rallying behind Trump while others applauded Newsom’s critique.
Comments ranged from supportive to scathing. One user remarked, “It’s not so much about having a statue of a person. If the people of a place or country or culture make one of someone, fine. It’s the making one of yourself that’s pathetic...” Another chimed in with disgust, calling the whole affair “nauseating” and labeling the supporters as “cult followers.”
As the online debate rages on, it’s clear that this golden statue isn’t just a piece of art; it’s a lightning rod for political discourse. With Newsom throwing shade and Trump basking in the glow of his own glorification, the clash between these two figures is heating up like never before.
Whether you see it as a symbol of devotion or a ridiculous display of ego, one thing is certain: this golden idol is turning heads and sparking conversations across the nation.
