Michelle Obama’s Self-Centered Remarks Ignite Fury: ‘Entitled and Selfish’

Jun 19 2026

Michelle Obama’s recent declaration about her future has sent shockwaves through conservative circles, with critics branding her as “selfish and entitled.”

While former President Barack Obama looks forward to a “fun” next chapter, Michelle’s one-word answer—“Me”—has drawn ire from social media users.

During an appearance on ABC News’ “Good Morning America,” Michelle’s self-centered response prompted a wave of backlash. Conservative operative Steve Guest slammed her on X, calling her “selfish and entitled.”

Another user, Anthony Dohrmann, expressed sympathy for Barack, stating, “First time I’ve felt bad for Barack.”

Comments continued to pour in, with one user remarking, “She is so miserable,” while another noted the similarity in ego between Michelle and her husband.

Michelle has a history of expressing dissatisfaction with her role during Barack’s presidency. In 2013, she lamented feeling like a single mother due to his political commitments.

Her absence at significant events has also raised eyebrows. She skipped the funeral of late President Jimmy Carter and President Trump’s inauguration in early 2025, reportedly vacationing in Hawaii during the funeral.

On a podcast, she explained her decision to skip the inauguration, citing wardrobe issues. “It started with not having anything to wear,” she said, dismissing the notion that her marriage was in trouble.

Barack has acknowledged that his desire to stay politically active has created “genuine tension” at home, frustrating Michelle.

Despite the criticism, Michelle recently praised Barack during the ceremonial opening of his presidential library, bringing him to tears with her heartfelt words.

“You never fell for the temptation of a quick fix or an easy payday,” she said. “You always gave us the very best within you.”

She concluded with, “It has been an honor to be by your side. You have made me a better person.”
