Naked Arizona Man Arrested for Surfing on Moving Train After Breaking In

Jul 19 2026

An Arizona man stripped off his clothes and allegedly broke into a Union Pacific locomotive, riding naked on top of the moving train through northeastern Colorado, shocking onlookers before deputies intervened.

The suspect, identified as Daniel Ray Ballance from Quartzsite, Arizona, reportedly smashed a window to gain access to the locomotive. Once inside, he climbed onto the roof while the train was in motion.

Ballance now faces both felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from this outrageous incident, according to authorities.

Witnesses described the surreal scene of Ballance riding atop the locomotive in the nude, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office later released his mugshot along with a humorous post on social media regarding the arrest.

“For those of you who had the unfortunate experience of seeing this gentleman surfing naked on top of a moving locomotive yesterday, I want you to know that he was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges,” the sheriff’s office stated.

During questioning, Ballance reportedly expressed his fondness for “vodka, beer, and playing the Banjo,” according to the sheriff’s office. They added, “Unfortunately, we had to separate him from those loves and the train ride.”

Now, instead of enjoying his favorite pastimes, Ballance is spending time in jail, where he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges. Details regarding the specific charges have not yet been made available.

Reports indicate that Ballance broke a window to enter the Union Pacific locomotive before climbing onto the moving train. Authorities have not revealed what led to this bizarre stunt or if there were any injuries among those aboard the locomotive.
