‘Repulsive’ New Tribute for Trump Criticized as Ultimate Self-Importance

Donald Trump’s name is set to grace U.S. paper currency, a move that has ignited a firestorm of criticism.

The Treasury Department revealed on Thursday that bills printed this summer will feature the president’s signature, commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.

This marks a historic first, as it is the inaugural instance of a sitting president’s signature appearing on U.S. cash.

Alongside Trump’s name, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s signature will also be included.

Bessent stated, “There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S. dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial.”

However, social media erupted with backlash against this announcement.

Many users labeled the decision “repulsive,” calling it yet another display of Trump’s self-importance and “vainglory.”

One critic quipped, “Signing the hyperinflation himself. Amazing,” alluding to the rising cost of living that opponents argue has escalated during Trump’s tenure.

Another user remarked, “Given what Trump has done to our economy, finances, and falling currency…he should absolutely put his signature on bills. And he should also add sh*t stains. #TrumpEffect.”
