Trump and Melania's Letter Ignites Fury Over California Teen's Execution-Style Murder

A California high school senior was executed outside a McDonald's, and now a letter from President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump is thrusting this horrific case back into the spotlight. The victim, Caleb Quick, was shot in the back of the head just weeks before graduation.

The White House reached out to Quick's family, expressing condolences and pledging support for efforts to combat violent crime. The letter states, “Melania and I are devastated by the senseless loss of your beloved son, Caleb, and we are heartbroken for your entire family.”

Trump's message continues with a promise: “Please know that my Administration will never stop fighting to clean up our streets and ensure law and order in our Nation.”

Quick, aged 18, was murdered in April 2025. Prosecutors allege that two 16-year-olds, Cassandra Michael and Byron Rangel, executed the killing after rumors spread that Quick had sexually assaulted a girl at a house party.

Testimony during a transfer hearing revealed that the allegations emerged from an incident following a Clovis house party on April 13. Multiple teenagers told investigators they heard claims that Quick assaulted an intoxicated girl connected to a friend of the accused.

Authorities reported that the girl had been heavily drinking and had little recollection of events after falling asleep. Quick’s father, Stephen Quick, vehemently rejected any notion that these rumors justified his son's brutal murder.

“It’s not a justification for this behavior — premeditated first-degree murder,” he stated. He condemned the actions of the accused as vengeance-driven, emphasizing that they had ample time to reconsider their decision.

“They acted on it like vengeance. They had 24 hours to make this decision, and whatever allegations they had against him, it was not within their authority to act on. That’s why we have laws.”

Caleb Quick died just weeks shy of his high school graduation. Michael and Rangel, who were dating at the time of the shooting, face murder charges. Prosecutors are currently determining whether they should be tried as adults.

The White House letter adds another layer to this high-profile case that has captured widespread attention across California as prosecutors continue to build their case against the two teens.
