Scott Patterson's Shocking Exit Leaves 'Sullivan's Crossing' in Turmoil
Scott Patterson's abrupt exit from 'Sullivan's Crossing' has sent shockwaves through the series, leaving a gaping hole in its narrative structure.
“It’s interesting. There are always going to be different dynamics,” Morgan Kohan stated, addressing the fallout from Patterson's departure. The 32-year-old actress noted that the absence of Sully opened the door for a slew of new characters to emerge.
Kohan expressed enthusiasm about the introduction of fresh relationships, emphasizing the creative opportunities that arose from the shake-up.
“What I really loved was getting to do the flashbacks and really seeing the younger version of Maggie,” she elaborated, highlighting a significant shift in Season 4. “Seeing her fully letting go and just going with what was happening in front of her… I’ve really loved getting to see.”
The series, adapted from Robyn Carr's book series, follows neurosurgeon Maggie as she returns to her rural Nova Scotia roots to reconnect with her estranged father, Sully. The storyline evolves as Maggie navigates her future with love interest Cal.

Season 3 concluded with a jaw-dropping twist: Maggie's relationship with Cal was jeopardized by the unexpected arrival of her secret husband, Liam.
“Season 3 of Sullivan’s Crossing ended with Sully leaving for Ireland, beginning a new chapter in his life. Season 4 picks up the next day, with Sully still overseas,” a source revealed. Despite his absence, Sully remains a pivotal figure in the storyline, with potential for future appearances.
Patterson hinted at the reasons behind his departure, citing “untenable creative differences” via Instagram. He lamented that it was being suggested he was replaced when, in fact, he felt pushed out.
He stated, “It’s unfortunate that it is now being implied that they moved on from me/Sully when the fact is the complete opposite.” Patterson insisted that fans deserve transparency regarding his exit and expressed respect for those who support the show.
'Sullivan’s Crossing' is currently streaming on Netflix.
