Trump has ranted about the “garbage”-filled pool, citing “dirt, grime and decay” to justify the costly renovations while slamming his predecessors for algae problems during their terms.

Algae issues resurfaced after a $34 million renovation during the Obama administration in 2012, and now it seems this persistent problem continues to plague Trump’s administration, despite his claims of having already “fixed” it.

An Interior Department spokesperson stated that the algae is “residual” from supply lines that were inactive for weeks during construction, calling it “part of the normal startup process.”

“We are removing the algae, and the nanobubblers will maintain the pool and keep it algae-free,” the spokesperson added.

Critics on social media mocked Trump over the pool’s appearance, with one user on X joking it was emitting “Iranian flag green,” contrasting with Trump’s assertion that the pool would be an “American flag blue.”

Another user sarcastically celebrated Trump’s birthday by stating, “Happy Birthday Donald. You’ve renewed and invigorated the Swamp.”
