Trump's Aide's Family Feud: A Toxic Bond with the President Unveiled

Jun 26 2026

Natalie Harp, a key aide to Donald Trump, is locked in a fierce family feud while maintaining an unsettlingly close relationship with the 80-year-old president.

The 34-year-old political operative has been documented as having a deep bond with Trump, who she refers to as her "Guardian and Protector in this Life." Her devotion is evident in letters where she pledges, "I don't ever want to let you down."

Known as the "human printer," Harp carries a portable printer to deliver hardcopy information to Trump. He reciprocates her affection, calling her "sweetie" and treating her like a daughter.

In the book Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, journalists allege that Harp is the "only one who loved him as much as his wife and kids." Their relationship intensified after she credited Trump for signing the Right to Try Act in 2017, which she claims provided access to life-saving treatments during her battle with stage II bone cancer.

Trump invited Harp to speak at the Republican National Convention in August 2020, leading to her role on his 2020 presidential campaign advisory board.

However, not everyone is on board with her relationship with Trump. Her estranged brother, Preston, openly criticized the president and described their bond as "very unhealthy." He labeled Trump a "national embarrassment" and claimed Harp is merely part of his fan club.

Preston discovered his sister's employment with Trump through a friend's inquiry about an article. He expressed confusion over her choice, stating, "I don’t understand why my sister, or anyone could want to work for Trump."

Addressing concerns from Harp's friends about his mental health, Preston acknowledged past struggles but clarified he currently has no ongoing issues. He reminisced about their childhood in California, recalling games they played and how they were homeschooled by their deeply religious mother.

Preston described their mother’s strict Christian beliefs, recalling how she forced him to discard Pokémon cards for being "demonic." He characterized himself as the rebellious sibling while Harp was obedient, often following their mother's lead.

Preston maintained a closer relationship with their father before his death, which strained ties with their mother and sister. He attempted to stay in touch but faced obstacles as their mother monitored conversations, deeming him a "bad influence" on Harp.

The death of their father on July 17, 2020, marked a turning point in family dynamics. Preston revealed that he and Natalie disagreed on how to disclose the circumstances of their father's passing, leading to a significant rift.

Preston stated, "My mom and sister wanted to say that he died in his sleep. I just can’t keep that kind of a secret." He informed extended family members about the truth, which further deepened the divide over Robert's death and the absence of a funeral.

Natalie's paternal grandmother, Dolores 'Dee Dee' Harp, expressed disappointment over their lack of communication. A cousin revealed that Natalie has blocked her on social media.

Currently, Natalie appears to maintain contact only with her mother, having moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, just three miles from Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. This relocation occurred shortly after their father's death and coincided with her RNC address.

Preston has no desire to reconnect with either Natalie or their mother and has settled in Nicaragua. He first traveled there in 2022, stating it was the first time he felt peace since his father's death. "It’s hard to believe that’s my sister and my mom," he remarked. "I can’t connect with that vibe, so I’m just going to let it be."

In Nicaragua, Preston works alongside S. Brian Willson, an American veteran known for his anti-war activism. Willson lost both legs during a non-violent protest against U.S. arms shipments to Central America.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that "Natalie Harp is one of the most loyal and hardest working aides on President Trump’s team."
