Four journalists—Julian E. Barnes, Eric Lipton, Tyler Pager, and Eric Schmitt—were specifically targeted with subpoenas for their reporting on this sensitive issue.

This aggressive action follows an incident where FBI Director Kash Patel abruptly canceled his flight to Chicago to meet his girlfriend after being summoned to the White House. This meeting was reportedly to discuss ongoing investigations into security disclosures about the new aircraft.

Reports indicate that Trump has been seething over revelations concerning security flaws with the $400 million plane gifted by Qatar. His frustration peaked when it became known that the aircraft lacked essential equipment for a direct flight back from Turkey.
